The Inline Moderation System
The Inline Moderation System allows moderators and administrators to moderate topics and posts without accessing a Moderator or Administrator Control Panel. ZetaBoards' Inline Moderation System allows moderation of multiple topics and posts by viewing a forum or a topic.
Moderating Topics (Forum View)
When viewing a forum, notice a column with unticked checkboxes next to each topic. Tick the checkboxes of the topics you wish to moderate. To select a particular type of topic, click on one of the links below the topic list: all, none, closed, open, moved, approved, and awaiting approval. Awaiting approval refers to the topics of users or topics in forums that have been put on moderation queue, whose posts have to be approved before they are shown to all users; the other options will be explained later.
Moderation Options
- Approve Topic - Approving a topic will cause a hidden topic to become visible to users.
- Hide Topic - All hidden topics will be invisible to users. To moderators, they will appear as regular topics when browsing a forum, except with a special highlighted color to differentiate from regular (approved) topics.
- Close Topic - Closing a topic will restrict all users (that do not have the privilege to post in closed topics) from posting in it. User groups can be granted the privilege to post in closed topics via the Admin CP.
- Open Topic - Opening a topic will allow all users (with correct permissions) to post in it. It will reverse the effects of closing a topic.
- Delete Topic - Deleting a topic will remove it from a board completely.
Tip: It is a much better idea to enable the trash can feature and trash topics than to delete them. Deleted topics can only be restored by submitting a ticket via the Support Ticket System for a restoration.
- Trash Topics - If the trash can feature has been setup (via the Admin CP), trashing a topic will automatically move it to the trash can.
- Unpin Topic - Unpinning a topic will remove it from the
Pinned Topicsrow and place it in the normal topic list for that forum. This option is the reversal of pinning a topic. - Pin Topic - When a topic is pinned, it is noted as important and thus placed under the
Pinned Topicsrow in a forum. A topic can be removed from this row by unpinning it (see above). - Combine Topic - Using this tool will merge two selected topics into one new topic, with the posts from the topic posted earlier appearing first. (In IPB v1.3, this feature was called merge topic.)
Moderating Posts (Post View)
With the Inline Moderation System, moderating individual or many posts within a topic is a breeze. On the right-hand side of each post lies a checkbox. To select a post to moderate, tick the necessary box(es).
Moderation Options
- Delete Post(s) - Deleting posts will remove them from a board completely.
Tip: As with deleting topics, be careful before deleting posts. Deleted posts can only be restored by submitting a support ticket for a restoration. A better option is to enable the trash can feature and trash posts (see below).
- Trash - If the trash can feature is enabled, using the trash feature will automatically move the selected post(s) to the trash can.
- Split Posts - Splitting posts allows moderators to select posts in a topic and split them, causing them to form a new topic in the same forum as the original topic.
- Approve Post(s) - Approving posts will cause hidden posts to become visible to users.
- Hide Post(s) - Hiding posts will cause them to become invisible to users. However, to moderators, they will appear as regular posts when browsing a topic, except with a special highlighted color to differentiate from regular (approved) posts.
