Why are my new forums not visible?

The Problem
If you have created a new forum, but it doesn't show up on your board, you have probably failed to set the correct permissions for your user group.
Tip: Categories only appear if they have at least one visible forum in them. If you just created a category without putting a forum inside it, the category will not show on the board index.
The Solution
Edit the forum in the Admin CP by going to the Section Manager and clicking Edit Settings next to the forum that is not showing up.
Scroll down to where it says Forum Permissions. In order for a forum to appear to a user, the View checkbox must be ticked for that user's permission mask.
If you can see the forum on the board index but can't access the topics inside, make sure that the Read checkbox is also checked.
