Domain Setup: GoDaddy

This tutorial assumes that you have left the default nameservers set to GoDaddy's (If you don't know what this means, you probably don't need to worry).

To get started, log into your GoDaddy account. Click the My Account tab. Click View in Domain Manager (You can alternately use the url https://dcc.godaddy.com/default.aspx? to reach the Domain Manager directly). Once in the Domain Manager go to the Tools tab and select DNS Manager. In the DNS Dashboard, select the domain you're attempting to adjust and click Edit Zone.

Using your Whole Domain

If you wish to point your whole domain (Such as yourdomain.com) to your board, as opposed to using a subdomain (Such as forums.yourdomain.com), follow the steps below. If you're wanting to use a subdomain, skip to the Using a Subdomain section.

  1. On the following page, look for the section called A (Host). For the entry with Host set to @, click on the line (not the check box however) and edit the IP Address under Points To. From here, enter the IP Address of the server your InvisionFree or ZetaBoard's board is hosted on in the Points to box.. You can find the appropriate IP Address on the Server IP List.

  1. Then look for the section called CNAME (Alias). There will be multiple records to edit from, but only one should have a Host of “www”. For the entry with Host set to www, click on the line (not the check box however) and edit the URL under Points To. From here enter the server name of the server your board is hosted on. For example, if your board's URL starts with s3.zetaboards.com, you would enter s3.zetaboards.com in this box.

Using a Subdomain

If you're not wanting to point your whole domain.com to your board, but instead want to use a subdomain (Such as forums.domain.com), you can use just a CNAME record instead.

  1. Look for the section called CNAME (Alias).
    1. In the first box, labelled Host:, you may change the “www” value to whatever subdomain you'd like to use. For example, entering “forums” in this box would create a “forums.yourdomain.com” subdomain.

Finally, remember to click the SAVE button to lock in your changes.

This tutorial assumes that you have left the default nameservers set to GoDaddy's (If you don't know what this means, you probably don't need to worry).
