Domain Setup:

This tutorial assumes that you have left the default nameservers set to's. If you have changed the nameservers to your web host's, you will need to make these changes there. Try our WHM tutorial. If you have purchased your domain exclusive for your forum and don't know what this means, you shouldn't need to worry about this.

  1. Log in to your account control panel and click on the “Domain Name Overview” section.
  2. Click on the Domain you'd like to use.
  3. From this list of options, you should see an option “Manage DNS (A, MX, CNAME, TXT, SRV)”
  4. Select it, and then click on the “Advanced DNS” tab.
  5. Now you can add your CNAME records

  1. You should see the option to Add a new record with 3 options to select or enter. A DNS Entry, a Type and a Destination
  2. In the first box, enter “@” for the DNS Entry.
  3. In the next option, which is a drop-down box, select “CNAME” for the Type
  4. In the last box, enter the name of the server your zIFBoard(InvisionFree) or ZetaBoard's forum is on, followed by a “.” (Period/full stop) for the Destination. You can find this by going to the Account Info section of your Admin CP, and copying what the “Server Name” is from here. For example “” is what you would enter - note the . at the end.
  5. Click Add Record.
  6. Once you've added this, you can repeat the above steps exactly, except in the first box, enter “www” as the DNS Entry.
  7. You can delete any other records that are here other than the two you've just created (Unless you know you are using them for something else, of course)
  8. Wait up to 24 hours for to update the DNS settings for your domain, and then add it to the Domain Manager in your ACP as the primary domain.

Adding a Subdomain? (i.e. Follow all of the steps above up to step 5 (inclusive), except set the DNS Entry to “forum” (Or whatever you'd like your subdomain to be).
