Custom Profile Fields

This documentation applies to ZetaBoards only.

This page allows you to create and manage custom profile fields. It can be accessed by clicking on Profile Fields in the Users & Groups section of the Admin CP.

List of Custom Profile Fields

The first section of this page is a list of custom profile fields, which will be presented to you in a tabular format under the following headings:

  • Title. This is the title of the field.
  • Field Type. This is the type of field. A field can either be one line, multiple lines, or a drop-down menu.
  • Settings. These are the settings applied to the field.
  • Edit. Clicking Edit will allow you to edit the respective field.
  • Delete. Clicking Delete will permanently delete the respective field.

Adding New Fields

To add a new field, first select the type of field from the drop-down box at the bottom of the page and click Submit.

One Line Text/Textbox

If 1 line text or Textbox is selected from the drop-down menu, after the form is submitted you will be presented with another form to complete the details of the new field. The options are as follows:

  • Title. This is the title of the new field.
  • On Registration. If set to Yes, the field will be in the board's registration form. Otherwise, the field can be completed in the user's profile.
  • Admin Only Edit. If set to Yes, only administrators may edit this field.
  • Show field in topics. If set to Yes, this field along with it's current value will appear next to posts in topics.
  • Maximum input length. This is the maximum number of characters that can be entered into the field. The default for 1 line text is 100.

After clicking Submit, the new profile field will be created.

Multiple Choice

If Multiple Choice is selected from the drop-down menu, after the form is submitted you will be presented with another form to complete the details of the new field. The options are as follows:

  • Title. This is the title of the new field.
  • On Registration. If set to Yes, the field will be in the board's registration form. Otherwise, the field can be completed in the user's profile.
  • Admin Only Edit. If set to Yes, only administrators may edit this field.
  • Show field in topics. If set to Yes, this field along with it's current value will appear next to posts in topics. Note that the user's choice, rather than the drop-down menu itself will appear.
  • Allow selection of more than 1 choice? If set to yes, users can select more than one item. Note: Once this feature has been used by your members, you cannot edit to “no”, as their previous selections will be lost.
  • Choices. These are the choices which will appear in the drop-down menu. Each choice should be separated by a line break (one choice per line).

After clicking Submit, the new profile field will be created.

Disabling the profile fields from appearing on topics will show instead under the Profile Information section on each user's individual profile page.
